Deadline for foreign VAT refund

September 30 is the last chance to request a VAT refund from another EU country for 2010.

A business owner who has paid foreign VAT in another EU country has until September 30 to request a refund of this tax. This deadline might be a bit ambitious as the request for the required login code alone can take up to four weeks.

Since January 1, 2010 business owners can only request this foreign VAT via an electronic portal with special login details. Take note: the login details for this differ from the login details which are used for the secure section of the Belastingdienst website. The login details for the VAT refund can be requested on the website of the Belastingdienst.

Incidentally, if have you already requested and received your login details but forgotten them, you do not have to fill in the form on the Belastingdienst website again. You can simply access the details via the BelastingTelefoon. If you do this you only have to wait one week before you receive them.
