IT subsidy

Subsidy for employers to train IT staff.

Employers can now apply for subsidies to train new or incumbent IT employees that combine working with study (BBL students). The subsidy can amount to more than €1,400 per student/employee per year. In total there is €4 million available.
For companies that offer work placements in IT, it is commonplace to take on an intern for a short period (BOL students). ECABO Knowledge Centre hopes that through the new subsidy, companies will also offer BBL students work placements.
“The subsidy scheme facilitates the training of workers for IT companies,” says Louis Spaninks, manager of CA-ICT. CA-ICT is the Training & Development Fund in the IT sector that offers the subsidies. Besides this subsidy there is the existing WVA subsidy and the scheme can also be combined with existing training grants from the CA-ICT. ECABO ensures that this subsidy possibility comes to the attention of their constituent companies. For employers, this is an additional incentive to invest in their workforce now for the future. The scheme also applies to trainees already working and can be requested retroactively from 2 February 2011.
