Herman Ruijter
Herman prepares and files income tax and corporation tax returns as well as orchestrating clients’ objection proceedings. Although he has to date spent most of his time assisting Stan, he will in due course be operating as a tax consultant in his own right. Herman commutes by train from Zandvoort, where he lives.
“The vacancy on Indeed for what is now my job instantly struck a chord with me: what could be better than a job at a cloud-based, paperless office with an appealing clientele including digital development start-ups? These are my favourite kinds of client thanks to their out-of-the-box perspective on things. I lost no time in submitting my motivational letter and was promptly invited to what turned out to be two most enjoyable meetings. Things moved in rapid succession from that moment onwards.
Openness is what characterises all Koppel staff. The atmosphere in the workplace is comfortably informal, as reflected in the casual dress code. The UP Office Building, where our offices are, enjoys pride of place in between, and magnificent views of, the city centre and the waterfront with its cruise ship berths. It is something of a tradition at Koppel to have lunch together, but if you don’t feel like bringing your own sandwiches, there is always the restaurant higher up in the building.
I have a four-day work week and devote the fifth day to looking after our daughters, who are four and twelve. In my spare time I practise CrossFit, just like Stan. My partner and I are keen travellers: last year we spent two and a half months exploring Australia, together with our daughters. We also enjoy dining out at Michelin-starred restaurants.”
