Use of eRecognition

DigiD is available for use by private individuals for exchanging information – such as their income tax return – with the Tax and Customs Administration. Businesses by contrast have to date logged on to the Tax and Customs Administration’s web site using a user name in combination with a password, but this is about to change: in future legal entities and cooperative ventures such as partnerships, group practices and other groupings will have to use eRecognition when logging on for tax return filing purposes, whereas sole traders can continue using their DigiD.

eRecognition essentially represents a digital key. The minimum requisite level for logging on to the Tax and Customs Administration’s web site is level 3. Rather than representing a (complimentary) government service, eRecognition is available – for a consideration, we would note – from private market players. Please bear in mind that the processing of your application for eRecognition will take several weeks to be completed.
