Provisional tax refund 2013

Provisional Tax Refund 2013
It is almost 2013: time to check if your tax situation differs from 2012!
In this tip of the month we would like to bring the provisional assessment 2013 to your attention.
In the Netherlands you are able to apply for an upfront provisional tax refund (‘voorlopige aanslag/teruggaaf’). This means that you could receive a tax refund on a monthly basis.

When do you receive a tax refund?
Are you employed or do you receive a benefit? In both cases you pay tax on the income because your employer or benefit agency withholds wage tax and national insurance contributions.
However, your employer or benefit agency does not take your particular personal circumstances into account. You may therefore be entitled to a tax credit or have some deductible expenses, mortgage interest for example. In many cases you will have paid too much tax and you can receive a tax refund upfront.

Afterwards: Income Tax Return 2013
Keep in mind that this tax refund is provisional. The provisional refund will be corrected later, to fall in line with the income tax return 2013.
